A high number of people visiting dental clinics believe that dental procedures are very complicated and that there are high chances of getting injured during dental treatment. However, in reality, it is not really the case. Due to the different phobias related to dental treatments, it becomes difficult for dentists to carry out the dental procedures in an effective manner. The fear makes it difficult for patients to maintain their calmness which is required to complete the treatment in any dental clinic. In this post, we have mentioned the popular dental phobias which people suffer from on visiting dental clinics for their treatment.
Dentophobia
The most common type of dental phobia is Dentophobia, which means the fear of a dentist, orthodontist, and dental treatment. It is mostly found in the children and old age people due to the wrong impression of dental procedures in their mind. Children and old age people simply get frightened because of their thinking that the equipment in their dental clinics can cause harm to them.
Hemophobia
Another type of phobia which people face is hemophobia which is a fear of blood. Most of the visitors get scared on seeing the blood during the dental treatment. Due to this, they think that blood will come out of their mouth while undergoing dental procedures. And hence, they leave the dental procedure in-between and never return until they feel a sense of pain in their teeth or gums. Some patients even lose their consciousness on realizing the flow of blood from their mouth.
Marcin Krufczyk, the dentist in Gliwice (dentysta Gliwice) said that it is even dangerous form of fear than dentophobia because of the fact that a patient hesitates to return to the clinic once leaving it in the anxious situation. They don’t realize the importance of dental procedures in order to keep the teeth and gums in a healthy state.
Agilophobia
Agilophobia means the fear of pain which is also a common type of dental phobia. Patients who fear that there will be a lot of pain involved in dental treatment get affected due to this type of fear. People develop the fear of sharp objects such as a scalpel, syringes with a needle, razors or blades and get anxious during the dental procedures.
