Tips for more climate protection in the company

You can live more sustainably not only at home, but also in the office. We give you helpful tips on making your company more climate-friendly while enjoying 22Bet as a team.

Hybrid working has become the new normal. At home, we are already doing everything we can to be as sustainable as possible, but what about climate protection at work? In the following article, we give you helpful tips on making your company and, of course, your home office (more) climate-friendly!

The journey to work is the destination

This is where the whole journey begins: the journey to work. Even if the topic doesn’t quite apply to the company, it’s still your contribution as an employee. Now that summer is slowly but surely approaching, it’s fun to cycle again.

If you don’t live within cycling distance of the office (or perhaps just don’t like cycling), you can also use public transport. An important aspect that has also been discussed more, especially during the pandemic: Taking the train instead of the plane for business trips, or simply arranging business appointments digitally.

Save paper

Of course, this tip is not entirely new, but it always helps to bear in mind whether a document really needs to be printed or whether the digital version would do just as well.

And if something does need to be printed, then it’s worth doing it on recycled paper.

You can go one step further if, for example, you don’t write whiteboards, notes, or mind maps on paper – you can also do this online! Evernote is a great tool for taking notes, and on Padle,t you can effectively brainstorm with the whole team in all imaginable colours and shapes.

Separation is the key

While we’re on the subject, it’s also important to separate waste in the office! The main thing is to provide different bins and empty them regularly and correctly. Often, nobody feels responsible for the rubbish, so it can help to come up with a system. Either in the traditional way, with a rotating list, or a bonus system so that the “rubbish officer” is invited for an ice cream by the others, or is exempt from writing the minutes, for example.

Search sustainably

Have you heard of Ecosia, the sustainable option for search engines such as Google & Co? With every search query you make via Ecosia, you neutralise 1kg of CO2. The revenue that Ecosia receives (for example, from companies that set up advertising campaigns to appear first in search queries) is invested in planting trees in areas with high levels of deforestation, which now totals well over 125 million trees.

Incidentally, Ecosia is also GoodCompany – maybe they’re looking for you right now?

Deleting emails – not just good for the overview.

According to a calculation by DataEconomy.com, around of electricity consumption worldwide is caused by server centres. All the emails we write are transmitted to servers to reach the recipient. Of course, we can rarely do without writing emails, but we can regularly empty our mailboxes to save storage capacity on the server and thus consume less energy.

Don’t show your face from time to time.

In times when many colleagues are working remotely from home, it can be very good to see faces in meetings – this can also serve as a way to maintain team spirit and connection. In the interests of climate protection, however, we should make sure that we don’t show our faces more often, because that way we can save CO2. According to heise.de, if you have 15 meetings a week with the video switched on, you will emit 9.4kg of CO2 per month – without the video switched on, that’s only 377g!
